Australia’s LNG exports receipts slip in August

Russia

Australia's receipts from LNG exports fell to a near three-year low of A$2.23bn ($1.57bn) in August, its lowest monthly level since October 2017 of A$2.15bn when export volumes were around 20pc lower.

The weaker LNG export receipts, because of a sharp fall in LNG prices with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, contributed to lower overall merchandise exports from Australia. The August total of A$28.32bn was down from A$29.94bn in July and below the A$33.87bn in August 2019, according to preliminary trade data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

The official trade data are scheduled for release on 6 October.
