Greek trade deficit shrank 27.1 pct in August this year, compared with the same month in 2019, reflecting a 19.6 pct drop in imports and a 14.2 pct decline in exports, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Wednesday. More specifically, the value of imports totaled 3.333 billion euros in August, from 4.147 billion in August 2019, for a decline of 19.6 pct (excluding oil products imports fell 7.0 pct while excluding oil products and ships imports eased 1.7 pct). The value of exports totaled 2.063 billion euros in August, down 14.2 pct from the same month last year (excluding oil products, exports fell 5.0 pct while excluding oil products and ships, exports fell 5.1 pct). In the January-August period, the value of imports totaled 31.559 billion euros, down 15.1 pct from the corresponding period in 2019 (excluding oil products, imports fell 6.8 pct while excluding oil products and ships, imports fell 6.1 pct). The value of exports totaled 19.783 billion euros in the eight-month period, down 11.9 pct from the same period in 2019 (excluding oil products, exports rose 0.8 pct while excluding oil products and ships, exports rose 0.8 pct).
