Indonesia’s trade balance in November this year recorded a surplus of 2.62 billion U.S. dollars, according to the Central Agency of Statistics on Tuesday. The agency’s head Suhariyanto said this surplus was obtained from November’s exports valued at 15.28 billion U.S. dollars, or higher than imports in the same month with a value of 12.66 billion U.S. dollars. The total exports of 15.28 billion U.S. dollars rose by 6.36 percent month-to-month from those in October and increased by 9.54 percent compared to those last year. “The annual increase was triggered by non-oil and non-gas exports by 12.41 percent,” said Suhariyanto.
Meanwhile, this month’s increase was supported by the growth of oil and gas exports by 24.26 percent, and non-oil and non-gas exports by 5.56 percent month-to-month. Cumulatively, Indonesia’s exports from January to November 2020 were valued at 146.78 billion U.S. dollars, down slightly by 4.22 percent compared to last year’s 153.25 billion U.S. dollars. Indonesia’s import value in November was logged at 12.66 billion U.S. dollars, up by 17.40 percent from that in October 2020. This increase occurred in all types of products, especially capital and consumer goods, Suhariyanto added.
