State-run Sri Lanka Ports Authority said payments for imports could now be made electronically through the internet. SLPA said here were now three payment methods. “This allows port users to make payments from their homes or offices to clear goods from the Port of Colombo,” the SLPA said. SLPA said Chairman Daya Ratnayake asked for procedures to clear goods easily. The internet based payment will help clear imports fast and also help protect port users. Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) and other terminals of the Port of Colombo have maintained services with a ‘strategic crisis management plan’ in place, the agency said.
