Peruvian fresh garlic exports drop sharply in 2021

According to a report by the Agrodata Peru website, between January and May of this year, Peru exported 1,474,707 kilos of fresh garlic for a FOB value of 2,986,984 dollars. These figures reflect a significant 65% drop in volume and a 60% drop in value when compared to the 4,252,298 kilos exported for 7,422,941 dollars in the same period of 2020.

 

The main destination for the Peruvian fresh garlic in this period was Mexico, where the country achieved placements for 1,337,183 dollars (45% of the total). It was followed by Ecuador with 1,016,224 dollars (34%), Australia with 325,032 dollars (11%), the United States with 99,858 dollars (3%), and other destinations with smaller amounts that together added 208,686 dollars (7%). Last year Peru exported a total of 11,937,890 kilos of fresh garlic for $25,526,803.
