Serbia's state-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) has warned that its thermal power plants (TPP) cannot operate at full capacity due to insufficient inflow of coal, the energy ministry said. Serbia needs to secure additional amounts of electricity through imports, the energy ministry said in a statement on Friday.
EPS former acting director Milorad Grcic stepped down in January after two 620 MW units of the company's second-largest thermal power plant Nikola Tesla B were temporarily shut down due to accidents. The power utility operates eight thermal power plants with a combined capacity of 5,171 MW.
