The Greek-Russian trade balance remained in the red in March showing a deficit of 527.4 million euros, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Tuesday. More specifically, imports from Russia totaled 532.8 million euros, up 69.1%, while exports to Russia dropped 66.1% to 5.4 million euros.
In the first quarter of 2022, imports from Russia totaled 1.694 billion euros, up 131.4% compared with the corresponding period in 2021, while exports to Russia totaled 34.2 million euros, down 15.8% over the same period, leaving Greece with a negative trade balance of 1.6599 billion euros. Greek-Ukrainian trade showed a 45% drop in imports to 10 million euros in March, while Greek exports plunged 91% to 1.0 million euros, leaving a negative trade balance of 9.0 million euros. In the first quarter, imports from Ukraine totaled 54.3 million euros, up 33.5% from 2021, while Greek exports totaled 24.2 million euros, up 5.2%, with a trade deficit of 30.1 million euros for Greece.
