The Bangladesh Government recently fixed merchandise export target for the current fiscal year (2022-23) at US $ 58 billion. Media reports claimed this adding Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi unveiled the export target (both for merchandise and services sectors) at a press conference in Dhaka recently, while also expressing hope the target would be achieved as the global buyers are placing work orders in Bangladesh despite the volatile global situation.
Reports further underlined export target from the services sector for the FY ’23 has been fixed at US $ 9 billion, which is 12.50 per cent higher than the actual earnings from services sectors in the last fiscal year and considering the merchandise export target of US $ 58 billion, the overall export target for the current fiscal year has been set at US $ 67 billion.
