Vietnamese sales of this product in the first nine months of 2022 totaled 3,1 billion dollars, registering a year-on-year increase of 37,6%, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported. The largest importer of coffee produced in Vietnam was the European Union (EU), which acquired 490,700 tons or 39% of total exports. The most notable increases within the bloc were experienced by Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, France and Portugal.

Coffee is Vietnam’s main industrial crop and ranks second in the country in terms of cultivated area, with 710,000 hectares, second only to rubber. Statistics from the Department of Crop Production, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, indicate that national coffee production is three times higher (2,8 tons per hectare) than the world average (0,8 tons per hectare).
