Egyptian exports to the Russian market increased by 10.7% during the first six months of 2020, Minister of Trade and Industry Nevin Gamea said in a September 13thstatement.
The Arab republic shipped $382 million (EGP 6.01 billion) worth of goods to Russia from January until June this year, compared to $345 million (EGP 5.43 billion) in the same period in 2019, Gamea elaborated.
The minister’s statement came during her meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgy Borisenko.
Borisenko stressed on the importance of strengthening the Egyptian-Russian ties in several fields, namely the economic.
He further referred to the activation and resumption of the industrial cooperation between the two sides, a relation that started more than 50 years ago.
Borisenko said last month that his country seeks cooperation with Egypt for the COVID-19 vaccine.
As part of the bilateral relations between the African country and Russia, EgyptAir announced operating weekly flights to Moscow as of September 17th.
