Turkey increased fresh fruits and vegetables exports by 41% in July

According to the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly and Uludag Exporters’ Association’s figures, Turkey increased its fresh fruits and vegetables exports by 41.36% in July compared to the same month last year and the total export value reached 186,169,000 USD (157.7 million Euro). More than half of these exports were destined to Russia and Germany. In the same period, Turkey exported peaches the most to Russia and cherries the most to Germany.

In the first seven-month period, the country increased fresh fruits and vegetables exports by 24.43% and the total export value reached 1,364,609,000 (1.16 billion Euro).

In July, Turkey increased fresh fruits and vegetables exports to Russia by 51.72% and reached a total export value of 67,106,000 USD (56.8 million Euro). In the seven-month period, exports to Russia increased by 34.44% and reached 463,831,000 USD (393 million Euro).

Russia was followed by Germany with an increase by 41.63% in July and an export value of 44,844,000 USD (38 million Euro). From January to July, exports to Germany increased by 12% and reached 163,443,000 USD (138.5 million Euro)

Uludag Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters Association’s Vice President Senih Yazgan shared further details on the exports:

“Last month, Germany ranked first in our export to the EU countries. 60% of our exports to the EU was destined to Germany. We exported nearly 45 million USD worth of fresh fruits and vegetables to this country. We’ve also seen significant increases in our exports to Spain, Poland, Romania, France and Sweden. Our exports to the CIS countries increased by more than 45%. We increased our exports to Russia by more than 50%. Our exports to Ukraine and Georgia have also been increasing.”

Cherries to Germany, peaches to Russia
Yazgan continued with product sub-groups and shared information on the exports to Germany and Russia:

“In July, cherries and sour cherries constituted more than 65% of our fresh fruits and vegetables exports to Germany. In this fruit sub-group, we increased our exports by 34% and reached an export value of over 30 million USD (25.4 million Euro). We’ve also seen significant increases in apricots, cucumber & cornichon and pepper sub-groups. When we look at our exports to Russia, we see that peaches were the top export product. We increased our peach exports to Russia by 95% in July compared to the same month last year. The export value of this product reached over 25 million USD (21.2 million Euro). In July, peaches constituted 38% of our fresh fruits and vegetables exports to Russia. Peaches were followed by cherries-sour cherries sub-group with a share of 28% and an export value of 19 million USD (16.1 million Euro). We’re also content with the significant increases in the apricots and plums sub-groups.”
