An Iraqi delegation was in Damascus today to discuss boosting trade between Iraq and Syria. Syria’s Minister of Agriculture Mohammad Hassan Qatana held the meeting with a group of Iraqi business people. They discussed investment opportunities, maintaining joint committees between the two countries and the reputation of Syrian goods in Iraq, Syria’s official news outlet SANA reported.
Iraq and Syria cooperate on fighting the Islamic State on their border. This is not the first Iraqi-Syrian meeting this year. In April, the two countries’ oil ministers met to discuss importing Egyptian gas to Iraq via Syria.
