Serbia will resume exports of wheat and maize to Albania, albeit at a limited capacity, the government said. The government adopted a decree allowing agricultural products exporters to fulfill contracts for wheat and maize deliveries to Albania which were signed before the country introduced a ban on exports of basic agricultural food products, the cabinet said in a statement on Thursday.
According to the signed contracts, Serbia will deliver some 27,000 tonnes of wheat to Albania, president Aleksandar Vucic said in an interview with private broadcaster Pink. Vucic added that a somewhat smaller "but significant" amount of maize will be shipped to Albania, without providing the exact figure. In early March, Serbia introduced a temporary ban on exports of vegetable oil, maize, wheat, and flour to ensure stable prices.
