The value of trade exchange between Egypt and Bahrain increased to $917.2 million in 2021, compared to $401 million, year-on-year, an increase of 128.7%, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). Data released on Tuesday reveled that the value of Egyptian exports to Bahrain amounted to $450.7 million in 2021, compared to $139.3 million, year-on-year, an increase of 223.5%. On the other hand, the value of Egyptian imports from Bahrain amounted to $466.5 million in 2021, compared to $261.7 million, year-on-year, an increase of 78.2%. The value of remittances from Egyptians working in Bahrain recorded $127.7 million during the fiscal year 2019/20 compared to $107.7 million during the fiscal year 2018/19, an increase of 18.6%. The value of remittances from Bahrainis working in Egypt amounted to $1.8 million during the FY2019/20, compared to $3.1 million during the FY2018/19, a decrease of 40.6%.
The value of Bahraini investments in Egypt amounted to $174.6 million during the FY2019/20, compared to $119 million during the FY2018/19, an increase of 46.8%. The population of Egypt recorded 103.5 million people in 2022, while the population of Bahrain recorded 1.9 million people in 2022. The number of Egyptians in Bahrain, according to the mission’s estimates, reached 23,000 until the end of 2020.
